Callum is a freelance photographer, based in Jersey, Channel islands, with a passion for capturing beautiful moments. Callum has always had a passion for photography, but did not take it seriously until 2016, when he entered a local photography competition to promote the island and ended up winning, having his photo printed onto postcards and placed in Jersey's 5* hotels. Since then, Callum has been lucky enough to shoot local events, weddings and also newborns of friends and family. Callum loves seeing peoples reactions when he gives them their final photos, knowing that they have images they can cherish and look back on in years to come. Callum has also been lucky enough to travel Asia for a long period of time, where a great deal of his work has been done, falling in love with the cultural differences, where everything in sight is a photo opportunity.

Tell us about your path to setting up your business and what motivated you?

I have always enjoyed being creative and had a passion for photography, however I never took it seriously until entering a local competition and getting such positive feedback. This motivated me to pursue a passion of mine turning my hobby into something more.

How do you work and what is a typical day like for you?

If i'm not out taking photos (with clients or just for fun) i'm editing trying to create beautiful images that my clients, supporters of my work and also I will love.

What are the best parts about your business?

Being able to provide people with unique photos and memories that they will keep with them for a life time.

What has been your greatest struggle as a business owner so far?

Getting my name out there and proving to people my work and services are worthy.

What has been your biggest a-ha moment so far?

Learning new and quicker ways to edit, whilst keeping the attention to detail!

Do you have any advice for other small business owners?

The worst thing that can happen is that it doesn't work out, which is a lot better then never trying at all! You'll never know if you don't give it a shot, believe in yourself!

What currently inspires you?

Creating images that put a smile on peoples face, make people think and also creating memories for people they can keep for a lifetime.
