Tell us about your path to setting up your business and what motivated you?

My ambition has always been to learn how to communicate to the masses, and to do it for a good cause. I don't just choose to look for the good in people, but the good and the potential of a brand/product or service. By doing this, I get to work alongside some of the most passionate, hard working, driven individuals and teams. Helping to bring people's visions and dreams to life is what motivates me every day.

How do you work and what is a typical day like for you?

Every day is different, but it typically starts early and ends late. My job is my lifestyle and I will forever challenge the normal 9am-5pm working day. I flitter between the studio, meetings and shoots, many of which are off island. Thanks to the digital world we live in, I'm not restricted by one desk area. This has always been a motivation of mine, after having the pleasure of experiencing a restrictive office role at a young age. As a brand consultant I work to deliver on business objectives via innovative brand activation ideas. This could be in the form of a marketing strategy to increase brand awareness, website traffic, social media engagement or organic PR all which translate into growth. I also work with startups and larger corporations on their brand guidelines which ensures tone of voice, values, positioning and design assets are cohesive with the brand. It's my responsibility to spot opportunities for brand growth and give recommendations on how to best take advantage from them. Working with senior management, business directors, external agencies and marketing teams I help turn functional brands into emotive and engaging brands whilst ensuring external marketing material is aligned to your brand strategy.

Creative freedom!

W​hat has been your greatest struggle as a business owner so far?

Knowing when to walk away from a client or brand you feel can't benefit from your services.

What has been your biggest a-ha moment so far?

A-ha moments are more often than not... My starting point with many clients is a brainstorming coffee shop morning. Some prefer to call it question time! I ask endless questions about the structure of their business and their currently comms strategy (if any). The a-ha moment can then take between three minutes to three days before I decide how to best action.

D​o you have any advice for other small business owners?

Talk it out. I have worked with a lot of start-ups and well established brands in the past, many of whom are often scared about people stealing their idea or shutting them down. Only when you talk things through do you get a real understanding as to how you can best leverage your campaign/product or service! I've been in many meetings whereby I simply guide my client to answering their own questions. Don't be scared to talk out your ideas, business ventures and ambitions - you'll be surprised where it can take you.

What/who currently inspires you?

Other people's passion. When a client is passionate about their brand, product or service it makes the entire experience for both of us more enjoyable. I feel most inspired when I know I can add value to a brand, by crafting a strategy and plan that best represents the business.
